NBDC is a Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) program for integrating life-science research data and providing basic web services. Official descriptions say it collects, organizes, and publishes research data; develops and integrates core databases; and provides infrastructure for effective discovery, browsing, and use. Its direct services include a catalog of life-science databases, cross-database search, and a long-term archive for datasets deposited by researchers. The archive supports bulk download and simple browser-based browsing or search and provides standardized metadata, usage terms, and a DOI for each dataset. Since April 2026, the Office of NBDC Program has been part of JST's Department of Information Services; JST says research, development, and service provision for data sharing and integration continue.
