国立環境研究所が運営する「環境展望台」は、日本の環境に関する地図情報、観測値、予測、統計や研究成果をまとめて提供する環境情報メディアです。環境GISでは、大気汚染や水質などの状況を地図で確認でき、光化学オキシダントとPM2.5の濃度予測、黄砂の観測・予測、暑さ指数、交通騒音、酸性雨、ダイオキシン類、海洋環境モニタリングなどの地図を公開しています。自治体別の家庭CO2排出量、土地利用、人口分布シナリオ、ごみ処理統計、熱中症による救急搬送など、研究成果や公的統計を地図とグラフで比較できるコンテンツもあります。大気汚染常時監視データのダウンロードページでは、都道府県・測定年度・物質を選び、月間・年間値や時間値、測定局データを取得できます。ダウンロードデータは出典を表示すれば自由に利用できると案内され、更新・訂正情報や収録状況も確認できます。市民、自治体、研究者、教育関係者や企業が日本の環境情報を調べるための公開ポータルです。

The Environmental Observatory is an environmental information portal operated by Japan’s National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES). It brings together maps, observations, forecasts, statistics and research results about conditions across Japan. Its Environmental GIS presents national and local views of air pollution and water quality, alongside map products for photochemical oxidants and PM2.5 forecasts, yellow-dust observations and outlooks, heat index, traffic noise, acid rain, dioxins and marine monitoring. Other map-and-chart resources cover estimated household CO2 emissions by municipality, land use, population-distribution scenarios, municipal waste statistics and emergency transports for heat illness. A separate download area lets visitors select a prefecture, monitoring year and pollutant to retrieve air-pollution measurements, including monthly, annual and hourly values and station data. NIES states that downloaded files may be used freely when the source is credited in published results, and the portal posts coverage information and correction notices. Residents, local authorities, researchers, educators and businesses can use the maps and data to examine and compare Japan’s environmental conditions.
