J-STAGE is a scholarly-publication platform developed and managed by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). It hosts journals, conference proceedings, research and technical reports, magazines, and other publications from Japanese academic societies and research organizations. Readers can search articles and browse titles, publishers, and subject areas across science, technology, agriculture, medicine, humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary research. The official overview lists more than 4,000 publications from over 2,400 publishers in Japan and says that more than 90 percent of articles are free to read. Open-access articles display their Creative Commons license and applicable reuse terms. Article search and reading do not require My J-STAGE registration; the optional free account can save frequently used search queries and create alerts for new articles. Access and reuse rights vary by publication, so readers should check the license and access information shown with each article.
